Guangzhou, China, January 5, 2016 (Newswire.com) - CCM believes that the growth rate of biological pesticides’ consumption is expected to surpass 7% by 2022 in the global plant protection. It is mainly attributed to two factors: chemical pesticides are facing stricter regulations and supervision because of its bad effect on the environment; and pollution-free agricultural products are becoming more and more popular in consumers.
Currently, most of the chemical pesticides are under strict management ofsupervision organizations such as the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), according to Professor Xu Hanhong from South China Agricultural University.
Compared to chemical pesticides, biological pesticides are safer and more environmental friendly in application. Also, farmers can apply less volume than chemical pesticides’ with a higher prevention and treatment efficiency in plants. Such advantages should be attributed to the fact that biological pesticides are a kind of pesticide extracted from plants, animals, bacteria, mineral and etc.
"It is an inevitable trend for people to choose biological pesticides to kill pests to provide safe foods in the future” commented by Professor Xu.
The total investment in chemical pesticides is about USD28 billion in the world, while the investment in biological pesticides is only USD0.38 billion, according to Henan Daily.
The advanced countries in applying biological pesticides are Cuba, Columbia, Brazil and etc., while Mexico, the US and Canada apply most volumes in the world, together accounting for 44% of the global volume.
The application amount of biological pesticides in Europe occupies 20% of the global amount, as Asia, Oceania, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Africa occupies 13%, 11%, 9% and 3% respectively.
The total pesticide volume applied in plant protection will reach 3 million tonnes in 2020, with a CAGR of around 6.5% during 2015-2020, predicted by an international authoritative plant protection organization. During the period, the growth rate of chemical pesticides will be slightly higher than that of biological pesticides.
However, with the increasing types of biological pesticides and the better promotion of its application, biological pesticides are expected to develop greatly. Its growth rate is properly to speech up over 7%, surpassing the growth rate of chemical pesticides. The sales and value of biological pesticides will grow rapidly in the future, but chemical pesticides will keep leading the global pesticide market.
"In the past decade, China’s pesticide industry has made great progress, however, it is still being lagged behind a lot compared to the pesticide industry in developed countries”commented by Professor Xu.
"The global pesticide industry is entering the era of biological pesticides. China should really keep its pace with the whole world.”
"The Chinese government should put more effort in reforming and promoting the technical development of biological pesticides through advanced biochemicalengineering.”
"Also, the government should focus more on the research of applied technology on different kinds of biological pesticides, in order to industrialize the biological pesticide industry from the R&D phrase.”
Deputy Director of Hunan Province Plant Protection and Inspection Station, Tang Huilian stated: "The Chinese government is working for developing the green agriculture, thus, the application of biological pesticides is an inevitable trend”.
Actually, in recent years, the Chinese government has published quite a lot of policies to develop the biological pesticide industry.
For example, the government has released the timetable to eliminate the pesticides with high toxicity, which can adjust the structure in the pesticide industry and open up a big market for biological pesticide market.
The Campaign of Pollution-free Agricultural Production promoted by China’s Ministry of Agriculture provides beneficial policies for the development of biological pesticides.
The provinces such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan, Shandong, and Beijing City have greatly supported the biological pesticide industry in the purchase of agriculture subsidies, and set up a special allowance. For some areas, the local governments even pay the farmers who apply biological pesticides the allowance that is 50% of its price.
CCM is going to publish a new edition of Survey of Bio-pesticide Industry in China in January. If you need more information about the whole bio-pesticide industry, you could be expecting our new report. And we surely will keep you updated!
